The following are also specific functions of INGUAT, to promote inbound tourism, through:
a) Encouraging and stimulating the investment of Guatemalan or foreign capital in hotels and recreational centers dedicated to tourism, by providing requested information related to taxes, fees, incentives, and other data that may support preliminary investment studies.
b) Carrying out, on its own behalf, frequent tourism promotion campaigns abroad through newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and other equally suitable and effective media, to publicize our natural beauty, archaeological treasures, sports and social recreation centers, and places for rest and entertainment, with the aim of attracting international tourists to Guatemala.
c) Providing full cooperation and using its influence to encourage international transportation companies, travel agencies, hotel chains, and other types of businesses related to tourism, to carry out promotion campaigns for Guatemala abroad on their own behalf.
d) Supplying Guatemalan consulates with all kinds of promotional and informational material to help increase tourism to our country and answer inquiries they receive.
e) Printing books, brochures, and posters about Guatemala, producing documentary films, photographs, and any necessary material of any kind that may be used for tourism promotion.
f) Establishing contact with universities, secondary schools, chambers of commerce and industry, and other foreign entities or institutions interested in our country, to promote business, study, or leisure travel.
g) Creating, with the collaboration of Guatemalan embassies and consulates and other relevant entities, “Friends of Guatemala” associations to support INGUAT in spreading tourism promotion.
h) Organizing and conducting orientation and training courses aimed at customs, immigration, police, and other personnel who have contact with tourists and foreigners, to teach them proper social interaction with tourists.
i) Encouraging the formation of musical and other groups of Guatemalans wearing traditional costumes from different regions of the country to perform in bars, restaurants, and public places, offering them costume designs and support compatible with INGUAT’s tourism development goals and resources.
j) Offering folk dance and music performances as frequently as possible in suitable venues, for which INGUAT should ensure the formation of the necessary groups.
k) Organizing, collaborating, and participating in national and international events related to tourism.
l) Entering into agreements with similar organizations in Mexico, Central America, and other countries to establish tourism circuits that include Guatemala.
m) Carrying out all other functions aimed at creating and increasing tourism attraction to our country.
